Our trip to China is just over a month away, and I’m starting to think about packing already! Truth be told I’ve been thinking about it for a while…my packing lists are epic and have been shared among many travelers to the village. I’ve got it down to a science, and this time I have a brand new bag to bring along! So excited – it’s much lighter than my orange bag, which means I can pack more stuff before hitting the 50 pound weight limit for international flights!
On July 28th, our group of 11 will depart from LAX in the middle of the night, landing in Xian many hours later, on the 29th, where our 12th group member will meet us. From there, we will explore Xian, train in Chenjiagou with Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang, study Taoism in Louguantai, and return to Xian to end our trip, flying back to the US on August 14th. Master Jan Silberstorff, our good friend and fellow taiji player, is leading this trip and will be bringing some of his German students along (almost 30 of them, I think!). There will be lots going on in Chenjiagou while we are there – there is a huge tournament happening at the same time as our seminar, and some of our students may compete or demonstrate.
Some students in our group have been to China – a few times – and others will be setting foot in China and Chenjiagou for the first time. I predict that this trip will be unpredictable – typical of most of our trips. For certain, we will train hard and we will have fun!
I will be blogging here on the Sanc’s website, so stay tuned for updates, pics, stories and experiences.
